First heavy drops of rain cool the earth’s face, water its thirsty springs. For weeks it has been extremely hot yet on land day it rained and rained… My Grandmother says that’s a really good sign implying that the martyrs under the soil are warm, and are in peace.
The land day- the 30th of march, another day on the Palestinian calendar to symbolize strife and fight for equality and freedom. This year was no different; people from all over the country and even from aboard, from different religions backgrounds and parties all marched side by side holding the Palestinian flag high in the sky. Commemorating the six martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their precious lands that were threatened to be confiscated.
This year in Arraba;
little children with coloured Palestinian flag on their cheeks, many photographers, murmurs and whispers of gossip, Julia Boutros and Marcel Khalefa music, Orchectra drumming, cars horning, people shouting, lots of different yet familiar faces,smell of sweat; loud microphones shouting for unison and fight for freedom.
